MIT-Brazil 101
Welcome
The MIT-Brazil Program is one of more than 25 MIT International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI) programs, part of MIT’s School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (SHASS) and housed within MIT’s Center for International Studies (CIS). Since its inception nearly a decade ago, the mission of the MIT-Brazil program has been to build, maintain and strengthen the ties developed between MIT and Brazil through a number of incoming and outgoing programs.
The MIT-Brazil Program has organized a series of practical informational guides designed to assist students, researchers, and visiting fellows to the United States in both successfully navigating their relocation to the Boston Metro Area and eventually returning to Brazil.
Since most of the information provided comes from other entities, public or private, it is subject to updates or changes beyond the control of MIT-Brazil. Thus, we cannot verify the accuracy of all reported information, and advise that users confirm the data contained in these guides with the relevant sources mentioned.
We recommend that you explore PUB Boston, an online community that connects Brazilian researchers, students, scientists, artists, and innovators in monthly meetings with an emphasis on multidisciplinary dissemination. Please check out all guides and resources below including the Guia para Novas Andorinhas, a collaborative document put together by researchers and students who live(d) in Greater Boston as a way to help newcomers, especially students. The document is open-source and can be shared, edited, and updated by any user.
During the onboarding process, we understand that there is quite a large amount of information to take in, which is why we have created this guide. They also serve as a resource for students, visiting fellows and scholars to reference throughout their time at MIT. Here you will find a plethora of information that will help acquaint you with MIT’s policies and procedures. Please read through the content and follow up with [email protected] with any questions you might have!
